About the Opportunity
Methanex is currently seeking a Drafter to join the team in Medicine Hat, AB, on a full-time basis. This is a temporary position with an end date of December 30, 2025.
The Drafter provides drafting services to the Methanex Medicine Hat site, ensuring quality and industry standards are met while also supporting document control for all drafting-related documents. Additionally, this role coordinates both internal and external drafting services and sets drafting priorities to meet the requirements of the annual project program and client requests in a timely manner.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Complete drafting for projects and plant updates, ensuring quality and industry standards
- Prioritize and schedule internal and external drafting services to meet site needs
- Ensure internal and external drafting aligns with Methanex standards and processes
- Modify and update drawings across multiple disciplines, including civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical
- Maintain accurate drawing and equipment databases, assign drawing numbers, and support document control
- Conduct field as-builds and convert hard-copy drawings to electronic format using ProCAD software
- Provide ground disturbance packages, attend check print meetings, and participate in technical team planning
- Ensure compliance with PEIM responsibilities, Methanex policies, and HR procedures
- Participate in safety programs, complete safety observations, and engage in Health & Safety audits
- Actively contribute to the Technical team and align activities with business and corporate strategies
About You
To qualify, you will need experience in drafting, but we welcome applications from recent graduates with strong technical skills, along with the following:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and ProCAD software; experience with SolidWorks is an asset
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Understanding of data management systems and document control processes
- Familiarity with industry codes, drafting symbols, and standards
- Knowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act is an asset
